Ricoh GR IV accessories
Three things decide almost every accessory question on a GR, and all three changed across the range:
- Lens adapter: Lens Adapter GA-3 — carries 49mm filters
- Battery: DB-120
- Card: microSD / microSDHC / microSDXC card
Lens adapter
- Lens Adapter GA-3official
- The GR IV uses its own adapter. GA-1 and GA-2 are for the GR III and GR IIIx respectively.
- No adapter has been announced for the GR IVx.

Filters
- Any 49mm screw-in filter (ND, UV, CPL, black mist)confirmed fit
- Every GR back to the GR II takes ordinary 49mm filters — but only through the adapter, and the adapter is model-specific. Get the adapter right and any 49mm filter works.
- Adhesive stick-on filters are widely reported to pull the front lens panel off when removed. Owners have needed the panel reattached.
- The GR IV and GR IIIx HDF have a built-in highlight diffusion filter; adding a mist filter on top is usually redundant.

Battery
- Rechargeable Li-ion Battery DB-120officialconfirmed fit
- Does not fit the GR III or GR IIIx, which use the DB-110. Spares do not carry over when you upgrade.
- Swelling and early death of DB-120 cells is the most-discussed GR IV fault. Stop using a swollen cell immediately and never charge it.

Charger
- Battery Charger BJ-12official
- Charges up to two DB-120 batteries over USB; Ricoh quotes about 2 hours for an empty cell.

Memory card
- microSD / microSDHC / microSDXC card (UHS-I)confirmed fit
- The GR IV switched to microSD. Full-size SD cards from a GR III or GR IIIx will not fit.
- UHS-I only. A faster card gains nothing.
- About 53GB of internal memory means you can shoot a full day without a card.

Conversion lens
- Wide Conversion Lens GW-4official
- 0.75x, giving roughly 21mm equivalent. Needs the GA-1 on a GR III or the GA-3 on a GR IV.
- Blocks part of the view through the GV-1 and GV-2 optical finders.

Viewfinder
- External Viewfinder GV-1official
- Optical, about 90% coverage, with 21mm and 28mm frame lines — so it suits the 28mm bodies, not the 40mm GR IIIx.
- A conversion lens or hood intrudes into the view.
- External Mini Viewfinder GV-2official
- About 85% coverage with a 28mm frame line and a 1:1 marking. Suits 28mm bodies.

Flash
- External Flash GF-2official
- Guide number 3 (ISO 100, m) — small, for fill rather than power.
- On the GR III and GR IIIx a firmware update is required before the GF-2 will work.
- Built-in battery, charged over USB-C.

Strap
- Hand Strap GS-2official

- Neck Strap GS-3official
- Two-point leather neck strap.
- Finger Strap GS-4official
- Listed only on the GR IV accessory page.

Thumb grip
- Thumb grip (third-party only)
- Ricoh does not make one. Every option is third-party and slots into the hot shoe.
- It occupies the hot shoe, so you cannot use a thumb grip and the GF-2 flash at the same time.
- Grips are cut for a specific body. A GR III grip does not necessarily sit flush on a GR IV.

Lens hood
- Lens hood (third-party only)
- Ricoh lists no standalone hood; the one it does supply comes bundled with the GW-4 conversion lens.
- Third-party hoods mount on the lens adapter, so you need the correct adapter for your body first.
- A hood intrudes into the view of the GV-1 and GV-2 optical finders.
- A hood makes the camera no longer pocketable, which is most of the point of a GR.

Screen protector
- Screen protector (third-party only)
- No official Ricoh option exists.
- All current GR bodies use a 3.0-inch touchscreen, but cutouts and edge radius differ — buy one cut for your exact model.
- The screen is touch-sensitive; a thick protector can degrade touch response.
