What to watch out for
Rechargeable Li-ion Battery DB-110
- Does not fit the GR IV or GR IVx, which use the DB-120.
- Third-party cells are common and cheap; several owners report swelling and early failure with off-brand batteries.
Rechargeable Li-ion Battery DB-120
- Does not fit the GR III or GR IIIx, which use the DB-110. Spares do not carry over when you upgrade.
- Swelling and early death of DB-120 cells is the most-discussed GR IV fault. Stop using a swollen cell immediately and never charge it.
Rechargeable Battery DB-65
- The GR II is the only current-generation GR on this battery. DB-110 and DB-120 do not fit it, and a DB-65 does not fit anything newer.
- Ricoh quotes about 320 shots, against about 250 for the GR IV.
