Ricoh GR III vs Ricoh GR IIIx
5 of 14 specifications differ. Everything else is identical on both manufacturer spec sheets.
What the differences mean
- This is mainly a lens decision, not a camera decision. The Ricoh GR III is the wider of the two; the Ricoh GR IIIx is tighter and sits closer to how people naturally see. Neither zooms — you pick one focal length and live with it.
- Crop steps differ (Ricoh GR III: OFF / 35mm / 50mm; Ricoh GR IIIx: OFF / 50mm / 71mm). These are sensor crops, not a zoom — you lose pixels in exchange for tighter framing.
- Close-focus differs (Ricoh GR III: Normal 0.1m-inf; macro 0.06-0.12m; Ricoh GR IIIx: Normal 0.2m-inf; macro 0.12-0.24m). The wider body focuses nearer, which is the usual trade for a shorter lens.
- The Ricoh GR IIIx is discontinued — Ricoh gives 2026-10 as the end of production. Expect stock to thin and used prices to move unpredictably.
